From the chariot, Rama pointed out to Sita the spots where the battles had happened.
Pointing to a spot he said, this is where Kumbhakarna fell. Pointing to another place, he said This is where Indrajit was killed.
Showing a spot he said here I was bound with snakes and there you see, was where Lakshmana fell, struck by Ravana's spear. Hanumana then went and fetched medicine for him.
Showing another spot he said This is where Ravana fell and this was where Mandodari cried.
Pointing to the ocean, he said My ancestors were responsible for the ocean. I bridged the ocean to rescue you.
Sita said You bridged the ocean for a purpose but the ocean should not remain bridged.
The ocean heard this and appeared before Rama and Sita. He said Rama, you bridged me for a purpose. Now, please destroy the bridge.
Rama looked at Lakshmana. The chariot came down on the bridge. Lakshmana shot arrows and removed the rocks in three places. The ocean started flowing across and soon the bridge was submerged. Lakshmana climbed back on the chariot.
