Rama and Lakshmana leave with Vishwamitra

Vishwamitra was pleased to see Rama. With his hair tied on the top of his head, his presence glowed like a full moon in the night sky. He asked Rama to follow him.

Dashratha came to know that Rama was leaving with Vishwamitra. He came to the sage and asked him to take Lakshmana along with him.

Vishwamitra told the king - Do not worry for Rama. He has been born to get the earth of the rakshashas. Do not worry, Rama and Lakshmana will come to you, safe.
He then asked Rama to follow him. Rama said he would like to visit his mother and bid her goodbye.

He went to Kaushalya, who was busy worshiping. He told her he was going with Vishwamitra to Mithila, to kill Rakshasas and save the sacrifices. He asked for her blessings.

With wet eyes, Kaushalya hugged her son and blessed him.

Dashratha stood watching with wet eyes, while Rama and Lakshmana left with Vishwamitra. He stood watching them, till they vanished from his sight.
Vishwamitra walked in front with the two princes following him. It was like Brahma walking with the twin gods, Ashwini Kumar, walking behind him.

Walking away, Rama and Lakshmana started feeling tired. The sun was too bright and the princes were sweating profusely. Seeing this, Vishwamitra was worried. He thought for a while and then asked the princes to have a bath in the nearby river and come to him. He said he would initiate them in a mantra, because of which they would not feel tired, feel hungry and would be always active.

The two princes learnt the mantra and were refreshed.

The Gods were pleased to see this. Lakshmana was destined to go without food for many days, because of which he would be able to kill Indrajit.
